ConGlobal Industries, Inc. Establishes Critical FMCSA Training Program
ConGlobal Industries, Inc. establishes new training program for its maintenance teams to be in compliance with the new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations for Intermodal Equipment Providers (IEP). ConGlobal has contracted with CheckMark Vehicle Safety Services, Inc. to provide the training.
The program is a vigorous two-day training program customized for ConGlobal to provide its maintenance teams, including mechanics, technicians, inspectors and supervisors, with a full understanding of the rules and regulations on the USDOT-FMCSA and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance North American Standard Out of Service Criteria as they pertain to the new Roadability regulations for intermodal chassis.
ConGlobal started the program in April 2010 with mechanics from its Savannah, Charleston, Atlanta and Jacksonville locations. Since then, ConGlobal has rolled out the program to the Los Angeles and Chicago locations. By the end of January 2011, over 100 ConGlobal mechanics and inspectors will have gone through the program. The goal is to have all ConGlobal maintenance team members trained by the end of 2011.
“This training program is an important part of the services that ConGlobal provides our customers,” said Mike Baldwin, president of ConGlobal Industries. “We are an extension of our customers’ equipment maintenance plans and we take great care in ensuring that our maintenance teams have the most up-to-date training.”
The training program is being delivered by CheckMark Vehicle Safety Services, Inc., one of the industry’s most respected FMCSA training providers. CheckMark only uses current or recently retired CVSA Part A-B instructors who have been qualified by the National Training Center of the USDOT-FMCSA.
“CheckMark is honored to be selected by ConGlobal Industries to conduct this training,” commented Paul Tamburelli, vice-president of government relations for CheckMark. “Having the adequate training allows ConGlobal to perform at the optimum level for their customers and CheckMark is the best equipped to provide this training.”
Federal regulations require that IEPs have established systematic inspection, repair, and maintenance programs and recordkeeping systems. IEPs need to provide intermodal equipment intended for interchange that is in safe and proper operating condition to avoid receiving costly equipment violations on their Compliance Safety Accountability scores, monetary citations from state agencies and having equipment placed “out of service” during roadside inspection. |
